Introduction: Scientific manuscript writing requires certain art and skills and is challenging even to the best of the researchers. Scientific manuscripts have specific format and language and must adhere to certain guidelines so research must be thoroughly done and manuscript drafted as per the guidelines to be successfully published in a journal.
Objective of the Training: To introduce participants with the format of scientific manuscripts, describe what to write various parts of manuscript and acquaint them with the process of publishing the manuscript.
Details of the Course: The Training on Manuscript writing for Authors 2021- I was a One Day training conducted on Wednesday, 10 Feb 2021 (2077 Magh 28). The training was jointly organized by Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences (NAIHS) and Medical Journal of Shree Birendra Hospital (MJSBH). The master of ceremony, Dr Barsha Bajracharya, welcomed everyone which was followed by the opening remarks by Col Dr Srijan Malla, Editor in chief of MJSBH. The opening ceremony was then inaugurated by Brig Gen Dr Arun K Neopane. The course co-ordinator and Executive editor of MJSBH, Lt Col Dr Bikash Shrestha then gave an introduction to manuscript writing and publication following which the training was conducted as per the scientific program. The training was closed by Maj. Gen. Prof. Dr. Nagendra Bahadur K.C. (Retd.), Executive Director of NAIHS. The participants were awarded with certificates after completion of the course.
Participants: 22 Participants including MBBS, Specialists (MD/MS), Nurses and faculties from College of Allied Health Sciences with at least bachelor degree (demonstrator level) were included in the training. 12 participants were affiliated to College of Medicine, 2 from College of Nursing and 8 from College of Medical Polytechnic. The resource persons were as per Table 1.
Outcome of the Training: Participants from various colleges of NAIHS learnt what to include in their manuscript. Due to participation of all faculties, it is hoped that it will facilitate in better teaching and learning as well as assist on writing manuscript and submitting it in journals for the scientific community to disseminate research work done in NAIHS.
