Institutional Review Committee (IRC) of Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences (NAIHS) in association with Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC) conducted a Basic Research Methodology training at the Library hall of Department of Community Medicine.It was a two and half day training conducted from 15 to 17th November 2017 (29 Kartik to 1st Mangsir 2074).
The objectives of the training was to upgrade the knowledge of participants in research process and to enhance the skills of participants in research methodology.
The Chief Guest of the Opening ceremony was Maj Gen Prof Dr Bachhu Ram K.C. (Rtd), the executive director of NAIHS.It was attended by the Deputy Executive Director, Brig Gen Dr Bhairab Kumar Hamal (Rtd), Training head of Shree Birendra Hospital, Brig Gen Dr Nagendra K.C., T/ Col Aruna Rai (Principal of College of Nursing), Dr Meghnath Dhimal (Representative of NHRC) and members of the IRC,NAIHS.The Master of the ceremony, Maj Dr Lee Budhathoki , formally opened the training with a welcome speech by Prof Dr Lochana Shrestha, Chairman of IRC,NAIHS where introduced the training and highlighted the areas that the training would touch along with the introduction and achievements of the IRC, NAIHS. Dr Meghnath Dhimal gave a speech on the behalf of NHRC where he briefly introduced NHRC.He also talked about the research grants provided by NHRC for conducting various studies inside the country and the trainings conducted by NHRC.It was followed by speech from the chief guest where he emphasised the importance of conducting proper evidence based research and documenting the research in written form usually in journals.
23 trainees were faculties of medical and nursing side from both NAIHS and SBH.
The training
discussed important and relevant topics of research methodology and statistics
which were covered by resource person from NHRC as well as from
NAIHS.Participants were actively involved in the sessions and a wide array of
questions and queries were addressed by the resource persons.
Outcome:
The training brought together NHRC and IRC, NAIHS together to update the knowledge of participants in research process and how to conduct a research better.It provided a forum to discuss various queries related to conducting medical research
